Born and raised in Taipei and moving to NYC to study Engineering at Columbia University, after years working in finance, unhappy and needing changes, including starting a women’s wellbeing startup and an ice cream subscription business, the wine world slowly made its way into her life when she started volunteering for the wine classes at Astor Wine Centre, working in retail with Crush Wine \u0026amp; Spirits and Eastside Cellars, and worked in wine distribution with Bonhomie Wine Imports. It was in 2018 she moved to Burgundy and enrolled in Burgundy School of Business for a Wine MBA (with Distinction!), followed by an Oenology Diploma. Soon after she started working at Becky Wasserman \u0026amp; Co in 2019 where she takes care of social media, and develops the Asian markets.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIcy’s thirst for learning has proven that you get what you work for. Her fascination with viticulture and vinification has led her to work harvests across the world; Claire Naudin, Fred Mugnier, Chanterêves, Chartogne-Taillet, David Croix, Sato Winery in Central Otago, and Element Winery with MS Christopher Bates in the United States. Icy is also host of Ungrafted, ‘a podcast about wine, humanity and the planet’ – where she speaks, interviews and researches a great number of very interesting and important topics.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe met Icy after several friends mentioned her podcast and her own negotiant wine making! In 2020, with the support and advice from her friend Basti Wolber, she vinified 30 bottles of pet nat! Of course this led onwards, and after a necessary break where she battled breast cancer, in 2022 she was back and buying grapes from a grower who used to sell to Ganevat. Vinification was in Chris Santini’s winery in Auxey-Duresses, where all were pressed whole cluster, and made with as little sulphites as possible. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver time Icy has connected with some great contacts and friends which she can buy organic grapes from, winemaking is now done in her own cellar and her vinification is still a low-intervention but clean approach, as little added as possible and nothing taken away, using old barriques and stainless steel. She is focusing on Gamay and Pinot Noir, and we love the energy and clarity of her wine style.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIcy has also taken into consideration the carbon footprint of her wine, using French-made lightweight bottles (around 400g) that are washed and reused and not using capsules or wax. Her labels are designed by Sylvie Luccisano who made the labels of Les Horées and Chanterêves.
