The house estate of Mas Gomà, located in Penedès, Les Cabanyes, Spain, dates back to 1724 and remains of amphora from 2nd century BC have been found on the property! The Vendrell family took over the farmland over a century ago and were the first on the land to plant vineyards. For the past five years, father and son Joan Manel Vendrell & Joan Vendrell took a deeper focus on applying some biodynamic and natural plant treatments after many years of organic agriculture.

With 22 hectares of vineyards, the majority of grapes are sold to other producers in the area. For their own ‘Mas Gomà’ wines they select grapes from their best vineyards, with the oldest vines, and lowest yields, to achieve the greatest fruit structure possible. Their soils are high in calcareous compounds, which helps bring lower pH levels compared to most in the region and helps keep the wines crisp and fresh! That's also why the majority of the production is both traditional method and Pét-Nat, and then a few whites and oranges, all from indigenous varieties.
In the cellar, their philosophy is "to achieve the maximum expression of a high-quality grape with minimal intervention in the cellar, without make-up, without sulfites." A mix of macerations, different vessels, and longer élevage pulls together the portfolio, which shows the best of the varieties and the terroir.
Joan and Joan are enticing and energetic people who work tirelessly to advance their family history at this estate, but also to build a better future for the coming generations. We're very happy to be working with such dedicated and hardworking people, and furthermore, to expand our portfolio with some unique wines that are very exciting to share within Denmark.
