2023 Marsannay Rosé 'Fleur de Pinot'

Rosé wine from Sylvain Pataille in Bourgogne, France. Made from Pinot Noir/Pinot Beurot. Organic-certified Marsannay estate using biodynamic methods; a benchmark producer for Aligoté and Pinot Noir.
40-50% directly pressed, 50-60% short maceration, ambient yeast fermentation, blended, aged for 18-24 months in foudre and demi-muids, minimal SO2 added at bottling. Sylvain has at least two parcels on opposite ends of the vineyard. The vines here are old, the youngest being planted in 1949, and consist of Chardonnay, Aligoté, and Pinot Noir for Fleur de Pinot (rosé). Sylvain notes the characteristic reductive minerality despite the change in location, grape, and bedrock. He believes this minerality is so beautiful that it would be a shame to make red wine on this terroir.
